About the event

A 265 year old violin will be played next month by its owner, Sir Michael Hill at a series of live concerts. Through its long life, 'The Southern Star' violin has survived plagues, wars and now Covid19. Michael Hill and his grandson Jacob with the help of professional pianist Kinga Krupa and soprano Tamaki Iida have put together a special programme of classical music. It has been a wonderful experience for the Hill family: 'Jacobs been learning the violin since he was three. During the pandemic he started playing Vivaldi with his grand dad.' says Jacob's mum Emma Hill. 'It's pretty special, two generations, 12 and 81 year olds, can share this experience together, and inspire others.'All proceeds from the concerts will be donated to Wakatipu Community Foundation's Greatest Needs to help the community.
