Supporter FAQs
You can be as involved or not as you choose. For some supporters simply making the $1000 donation is enough, and others join committees, and help out with grants, events and being Ambassadors for Impact100. Its entirely up to you.
Impact100 is known as a Giving Circle, which is one of the fastest growing types of philanthropy in the world. Donations are pooled, and then you get to decide which charity receives the funds by way of a vote. Collectively, your donation can achieve a lot more. And you also get to meet some wonderful local women, better understand the needs in our local community, and find out about local charities doing much needed work to meet these needs.
No! All women are all welcome to join us. We have a series of events from January to April which are designed for women to find out more about Impact100. These are posted on our facebook page, and on our events page on this website.
Yes! We have some members who also sponsor others, and a number of local businesses donate the $1000 on behalf of their staff. We also have an Impactship programme which we invite local women to apply for. If you are interested in this, please contact us by email impact100@wakatipucommunityfoundation.org
No. Impact100 accepts donations from supporters between 1 November and 30 April each year. We announce the amount we have raised in mid May and charities are invited to apply for a specific amount. 100% of the funds donated are then passed back to the community via our local charities each year.
The funds are managed by the Wakatipu Community Foundation, who is a local registered charity. WCF is part of a network of 18 Community Foundations throughout NZ and exist to grow philanthropy and provide ways for people to financially support their communities. The WCF is audited annually, as per the requirements of the NZ Charities Act. Your invoice for your payment will come from the Wakatipu Community Foundation.
$1000 means you are making a commitment to giving. It also means we can make a major impactful grant to our community.
Breaking it down:
- Because 33% of your $1000 donation is tax deductable, in real terms it is $666
- Per month it works out at $83 before tax rebate is claimed, and $55 after tax rebate.
Supporter payments open in November each year, and payments can be spread over the five months between November and April 30. We don't mind how you do this, as long as the balance is paid by 30th April.
We also offer Impactships where women from the community are invited to apply for a scholarship for the year.
Yes! If you are a NZ Tax Resident you can claim 33% of your $1000 donation. You should receive an invoice from our parent charity the Wakatipu Community Foundation with all the information you need to make your claim.
You can claim 33% of the $1000 donation, but the $100 is not eligible for a tax rebate as it is an administration charge.
Impact100 is entirely run by volunteers, but we do have some costs we need to cover. Paying $1100 is mandatory by credit card which covers the CC payment charges, and then $65 goes to costs of running Impact100 Wakatipu. This means 100% of your $1000 donation is passed to a local charity charity. If you do not wish to pay the additional $100 then you can pay by i-banking.

Sponsorships are usually where someone makes the donation on behalf of someone else such as a friend, family or staff member. Impactships are where we invite local women to apply with the aim of diversifying our viewpoint, and better meeting community needs. Impactship application forms are available on the website, and if you were interested in funding an Impactship we invite you to contact us at impact100@wakatipucommunityfoundation.org
We welcome as many women each year as possible! The more women who join, the more we pass on to local charities.
In 2023 there were 208 women so we made two $100,000 grants, and in 2022 there were 168.
Impact100 comes from the idea of getting at least 100 women together to be able to make a minimum grant of $100,000 each year, so its a minimum, not a maximum!
Some chapters in the USA have over 1000 women, so they grant over $1,000,000 each year! Imagine the impact of that.
100% of your $1000 donation is pooled together and passed on to local charities. We are a volunteer run organisation, although we do have costs such as printing, web hosting, hiring equipment like sound systems for events and accounts to cover. This is why we ask for an additional $100 to cover all these costs. This is an optional payment and we do appreciate those who contribute to cover our costs.
The power of Impact100 is that you know, and you get to be part of the decision when you vote for the charity to receive the major grants. 100% of your $1000 donation gets passed to the winning charity each year. You cant get more transparent that that!
For those that choose to donate the extra $100 to cover administration costs, each year we publish an Impact Report so you can see exactly where the funds have been spent.
